After birth of twins, Roger Federer has every intention to play in French Open
Roger Federer’s entourage grew by two on Tuesday, as he became a father to a second set of twins.
Federer, who decided to skip the Madrid Masters to be with his family, shared the news via Twitter that his wife Mirka gave birth to twin boys, Leo and Lenny. The two are also parents to twin girls, Myla Rose and Charlene Riva, who were born in 2009.
Despite the extra parental responsibilities and having only played one clay-court tournament this year, Federer is still expected to play at the French Open, which begins May 25, his agent Tony Godsick said Wednesday.
“Assuming that everything goes well and the kids are healthy and Mirka is doing well, he has every intention of playing Roland Garros,” Godsick said via the New York Times. “The question is what he plays before that, if anything. Time will tell. He is training and hasn’t missed a beat in training.”
The 32-year-old Swiss will extend his record of consecutive appearances at a Grand Slam to 58 if he plays at Roland Garros. The next event on his schedule is the Italian Open, which starts next week.
Everyone seems to have an idea on what the future lies for the twins.
